Recognition the Chevron Way
(Downloadable Version Only!)
The Chevron Corporation, based in San Francisco, California, is an international company, which produces energy and chemical products and employs about 35,000 people worldwide. To maintain and reinforce desired employee performance behaviors, Chevron has developed a set of corporate recognition and award guidelines each division uses to design its own specific recognition program. In addition, Chevron has developed a company-wide recognition program called the Chairman's Award, which rewards individuals or teams who've achieved extraordinary accomplishments, such as developing new technology, work progress improvement, or have devised innovative solutions to complex problems. Rewarding Employees talked with Pamela Sabin, corporate recognition awards consultant in Chevron's Corporate Human Resources department to discuss these programs and the impact they've had on the company.
